Clare quote of the day

After much to-do getting Clare to have a midday nap, she awoke much happier. A short while later I came into the room and asked,
"Is that my lovely Clare, awake and alert and cute as a button?"
"No," Clare replied
"No?" I asked
"No. I'm a human being." [not a button]

Ah. The danger of using metaphors with young children. :-)

Updated: I used "similes" rather than "Metaphors" resulting in an impromptu grammar lesson with Lana and the children.
